Overview

Are you a new health researcher in Saskatchewan? Our Establishment grant supports research projects that help you get your health research program established within the province so you can achieve the research productivity necessary to obtain longer-term, more substantial funding from other sources and continue working towards better health for Saskatchewan residents and beyond.

Research Fellowship

Overview

Have you completed your doctoral degree within the past three years and are looking for more specialized training to advance your research career and develop your skills as an independent investigator? Are you an experienced, active, health researcher in Saskatchewan looking for highly qualified personnel? Our fellowship award provides two years of salary support and an allowance for research professional development to research fellows and supervisors who apply together with a proposed project.

2017-18 Research Fellowship Program Guide 

Funding Available

$50,000/year ($45,000 in salary and $5,000 in research allowance for the award holder’s professional development) for two years

 

Partnership Funding

Parkinson Canada Partnership

Candidates for the SHRF/Parkinson Canada funding opportunities must submit applications to both SHRF and to Parkinson Canada (Deadline: February 1, 2017) and must indicate in their SHRF application that they would like to be considered for this partnership.

Research Connections

Overview

Are you hosting an event that promotes the sharing and use of health research knowledge in Saskatchewan and encourages linkages between and among researchers and non-researchers? Research Connections grants provide matching funds to support knowledge exchange through health research conferences, major meetings, research days and like events that are organized and held in Saskatchewan.

Supported events must focus on an area of human health research, defined broadly as encompassing biomedical science, clinical research, health services and systems research, and research on the cultural, social and environmental determinants of population health.

Research Connections Program Guide

Funding Available

Up to a maximum of $10,000 per event

Funding must be matched at least equally by financial support from another organization or institution besides SHRF (operating grants are not eligible matching funding unless the event was explicitly funded as part of the original application) and must be administered by a university, health agency, or other similar institution in Saskatchewan that will provide a statement of account to SHRF.

Application Deadline:
At least two months before event date

Funding Decisions:
Normally within two weeks of application

Targeted Collaborative Innovation Development Grant (SPOR)

Overview

Does your team focus on patient-oriented outcomes in-line with current priorities of the Saskatchewan health care system? This grant, based off of the Collaborative Innovation Development grant program, provides seed money to collaborative, interdisciplinary research teams conducting innovative research activities as a first step toward more comprehensive funding.

Funding Available

$75,000 to each team

Funding is available to support five teams with two-year grants. Of these, the top rated Saskatoon-based and top rated Regina-based teams will be funded.
